Nagpur Man Duped of ₹36.40 Lakh in Stock Market Investment Scam

Nagpur; Cyber criminals have allegedly duped a marketing agent of ₹36.40 lakh in the name of high returns on stock market investments. The victim, Prateek Gupta, a resident of Dharampeth, works as a home and property loan marketing agent.
According to the complaint, in March 2025, an unidentified fraudster contacted Prateek via mobile and convinced him to invest in the stock market through a link. Prateek invested ₹30.40 lakh, and his acquaintance Brijesh Kolte transferred ₹6 lakh to different bank accounts. Later, when returns were not received and contact was lost, Prateek approached the Cyber Police Station.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IT Act and BNS for cheating and are investigating.
