Nagpur: A man was allegedly defrauded of ₹5.86 lakh by his own cousin and three accomplices on the false promise of a job in Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation. The Jaripatka Police have registered a case against four persons, including one Metro employee.
The main accused, Amit alias Sunny Raju Bagde (30) of Varpakhad, along with Manoj Shukla, Mahesh Gupta, and Vijay Upadhyay, allegedly lured Sanjay Bagde, promising him a job in Metro. Gupta is said to be employed with Metro, adding credibility to the scam. Sunny claimed he was well-connected with Metro officials and introduced Sanjay to others involved. Sanjay handed over ₹5.86 lakh via online transfers and cash in return for a promised appointment letter.
When no job offer came, the victim demanded a refund. Sunny issued a cheque that later bounced, prompting Sanjay to file a police complaint. Jaripatka Police have registered a case, and investigations are underway.
Officials confirmed this is not the first time fraud has been committed under the name of Metro jobs, but the involvement of a Metro employee has made this case particularly serious.
