Nagpur: The Yashodhara Nagar police have arrested a 24-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh, described by police as a notorious burglar and a most-wanted offender in Nagpur, and solved four cases, including one house burglary and three motorcycle thefts. Police recovered property worth ₹2.39 lakh, including three stolen motorcycles, from the accused.
The arrested accused has been identified as Vicky alias Bittu Yogesh Dehariya, a resident of Ghamasan Chowk in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, who was temporarily staying in the Naik Talav area of Nagpur under the jurisdiction of Pachpaoli police station.
According to police, the accused has around 25 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations across Nagpur, involving burglary and vehicle theft. He is also wanted in two additional motorcycle theft cases registered at Shantinagar and Hudkeshwar police stations.
Burglary reported in Yadav Nagar
The case came to light after Milind Meshram, a resident of Yadav Nagar, reported a burglary at his house. His mother had locked the house on September 4, 2026, and travelled to Pune to visit her daughter.
On September 6, a neighbour informed the complainant about the theft. Upon reaching home, he discovered that an unidentified person had allegedly broken the lock and stolen gold and silver ornaments and cash worth ₹28,800.
Accused tracked down near railway tracks
On October 7, the Yashodhara Nagar police detection team received a tip-off about Dehariya’s alleged involvement in burglaries and vehicle thefts. The team traced him near the Vandevi railway tracks. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to his involvement in four cases.
The recovered property includes two white-metal coins and ₹900 in cash in the burglary case, a Hero CD Deluxe motorcycle worth ₹30,000, a Suzuki Gixxer worth ₹80,000 and a Bajaj NS160 worth ₹1.28 lakh.
The four cases solved include one burglary registered at Yashodhara Nagar and motorcycle thefts registered at Yashodhara Nagar, Shantinagar and Hudkeshwar police stations.
Police suspect that more cases may be detected during further investigation, as the accused allegedly used to commit crimes in groups.
The operation was conducted by the Yashodhara Nagar police detection team under the guidance of senior police officials, including Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil and DCP Nityanand Jha.
