Nagpur: a As Nagpur continues to reel under an intense heatwave with temperatures crossing 45 degrees Celsius, three unidentified men were found unconscious in different parts of the city within hours on May 24, raising fears of suspected sunstroke-related deaths.
Police officials have registered accidental death cases in all three incidents, while the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after medical examination reports.
Unidentified Man Found Dead Near Railway Line In Pachpaoli
According to Nagpur City Police, an unidentified man aged around 40 to 45 years was found unconscious near Electric Pole No. 1129 behind Divte Desi Liquor Shop along the Chhattisgarh railway line under Pachpaoli Police Station limits at around 7.50 pm on May 24.
The deceased was described as dark-complexioned, with a round face, around 5 feet 2 inches tall, having short black hair and a thin beard and moustache. He was wearing a dark checkered shirt and grey full pants.
Police rushed him to Mayo Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His identity is yet to be established.
Based on medical intimation, Sub-Inspector Kunal Shedmake of Pachpaoli Police Station registered an accidental death case, and further investigation is underway.
Another Unidentified Man Dies In Imamwada Area
In a similar incident reported earlier the same day, an unidentified man aged between 35 and 40 years was found unconscious near the rear wall of Dr Soni’s house at Jattarodi No. 1 under Imamwada Police Station limits around 3.30 pm.
Police said the deceased was slim, dark-complexioned, around 5 feet tall, with short black-and-white hair and a thin beard and moustache. He had a tattoo reading “Maa” on his right arm and was wearing a yellow T-shirt and black full pants.
Locals alerted police, who shifted him to Government Medical Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Following information provided by complainant Vaibhav Raju Waghmare, Imamwada Police registered an accidental death case. The deceased remains unidentified.
Third Body Found Beneath Dighori Flyover In Hudkeshwar
In yet another incident late on Saturday night, police found an unidentified man aged around 45 to 50 years lying unconscious beneath the Dighori Chowk flyover under Hudkeshwar Police Station jurisdiction around 9.30 pm.
The man was wearing a sky-blue full-sleeve shirt and brownish-purple pants. Police also noted black, white and saffron threads tied around his wrist along with a metallic bangle, while a blue-red-black cloth was tied around his head.
He was shifted to Government Medical Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Hudkeshwar Police have registered an accidental death case and initiated further inquiry.
Heatwave Raises Concern Over Possible Sunstroke Deaths
Though police have not officially confirmed heatstroke as the cause behind the deaths, the incidents have sparked concerns as Nagpur has been witnessing extreme summer conditions with temperatures soaring above 45°C over the past few days.
Authorities are awaiting post-mortem and medical reports to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, police have appealed to citizens to help identify the deceased persons and urged residents to take precautions during the severe heatwave conditions.
