Nagpur: Unknown burglars broke into a house in Nagpur’s Bhandewadi area and decamped with cash and jewellery collectively worth Rs 1.24 lakh while the homeowner was away for work.
According to police, the burglary took place between 10 am and 3 pm on May 23, 2026, at Plot No. 382, Ekta Nagar, Galli No. 10, near Wali Shah Dargah under the jurisdiction of Bhandewadi Police Station.
The complainant, Priya Umesh Dhadse (27), had locked her house before leaving for work. During her absence, unidentified thieves allegedly broke the main door lock and latch to gain entry into the residence.
The accused reportedly stole Rs 20,000 in cash along with gold and silver ornaments kept inside an iron cupboard in the bedroom. The total value of the stolen property has been estimated at Rs 1,24,700.
Based on the complaint, Nagpur City Police registered a case against unidentified accused under Sections 305(a) and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Bhandewadi Police Station.
Police have launched a search operation to trace the accused, and further investigation is in progress.
