Nagpur District Has 302 Transgender Voters, Election Department Ensures Voting Rights for All

Nagpur: The Election Department is actively working to ensure that every eligible voter can exercise their right to vote in the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Elections. As part of this initiative, special efforts are being made to encourage transgender voters to participate in the electoral process.


There are a total of 302 transgender voters registered in Nagpur district, with the highest concentration of 104 voters in the North Nagpur Assembly constituency.


According to the final voter list, there are 244 transgender voters across six assembly constituencies within Nagpur city. This includes 29 in Nagpur South West, 8 in Nagpur South, 32 in Nagpur East, 40 in Nagpur Central, 31 in Nagpur West, and 104 in North Nagpur.


In the rural assembly constituencies of the district, there are 58 transgender voters: 6 in Katol, 2 in Savner, 29 in Hingna, 1 in Umred, 18 in Kamptee, and 2 in Ramtek.


To ensure every eligible voter, including those with disabilities, senior citizens, and transgender individuals, can vote without barriers, the Election Department is conducting awareness campaigns under the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) initiative. District Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Vipin Itankar has urged transgender voters to exercise their voting rights, emphasizing the importance of their participation in the democratic process.


Nagpur district comprises a total of 12 assembly constituencies. Voting is scheduled for November 20, with counting to take place on November 23.
