Nagpur: The Cyber Police in Nagpur have registered a case against a man for allegedly posting objectionable and abusive content on social media targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and the Brahmin community.

The complaint was filed by Shishir Arun Tripathi, city president of the BJP Social Media Cell in Nagpur. According to the complaint, Tripathi came across several offensive posts on June 15 while working at the BJP office in Ganeshpeth.

The posts were allegedly shared by advocate Santosh Chavan through his WhatsApp status and Facebook account. The content reportedly contained abusive and defamatory remarks against Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and derogatory comments directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The complainant further alleged that Chavan also made objectionable remarks against the Brahmin community. During verification of the accused’s social media activity, police found that he had allegedly used insulting language against Gadkari on multiple occasions and circulated content capable of promoting caste-based hatred and tarnishing the image of a particular community.

According to the complaint, similar posts surfaced again on June 23, prompting Tripathi to approach the Cyber Police and submit screenshots of the WhatsApp status and Facebook posts as evidence.

Based on the complaint and the material submitted, the Nagpur Cyber Police have registered an offence against Santosh Chavan and launched a further investigation into the matter. Police are examining the social media posts and other digital evidence as part of the probe.
