Nagpur: The Social Security Branch of the Nagpur Crime Branch busted an alleged prostitution racket in the Nandanvan area and registered a case against two women accused of running the illegal operation under the city police’s ongoing ‘Operation Shakti’ campaign against human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.
According to police, at around 3.30 pm on June 26, 2026, officers and personnel of the Social Security Branch were patrolling when they received specific information about prostitution activities being conducted from Flat No. 17, NIT Complex, Block A, Nandanvan.
Acting on the tip-off, the police laid a trap and conducted a raid at the premises. During the operation, two women were allegedly found facilitating prostitution by exploiting victims for financial gain.
The accused have been identified as:
- Shalini alias Varsha Chandrashekhar Wanjari (35), a resident of Durga Nagar, behind Sandeep Kamble’s house, Bharatwada, Kalamna, Nagpur.
- Archana Shekhar Vaishampayan (43), a resident of Flat No. 17, NIT Complex, Block A, Nandanvan, Nagpur.
Police rescued two victim women from the premises during the raid.
A total of ₹18,500 worth of property was seized from the accused, including ₹1,500 in cash, two mobile phones and other materials.
A case has been registered at Nandanvan Police Station under Sections 143(2) and 143(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA). The accused and the seized property have been handed over to Nandanvan Police for further investigation.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajendra Dabhade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Deepak Agrawal, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil, by a team led by Police Inspector Darshan Patil and his staff.
