Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit 4 apprehended an externed individual in possession of a deadly weapon late Tuesday, March 12 night. The accused, identified as Nikhil Khushal Umredkar (35), a resident of Old Mangalwari, Lakadganj, was found in Pachpaoli police jurisdiction, violating his banishment order.

Acting on a tip-off, police personnel located Umredkar near Naik Talav, Bangladesh, behind Dhaval Kirana, Mahure’s residence. Upon searching him, officers discovered a folding knife worth ₹500tucked in his waistband.

A background check revealed that the accused had been exiled from Nagpur city and rural limits for one year under an order issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 3. Since he was found carrying a weapon without permission and was suspected of planning a crime, police arrested him under Sections 4/25 of the Arms Act and Sections 142, 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and ACP (Crime) Abhijeet Patil, with the team led by PI Kamlakar Gaddime and PSI Abhishek Shaniware. Further investigation is underway.
