Nagpur: An unidentified woman allegedly stole a gold pendant worth ₹1.09 lakh from a jewellery shop in Nagpur’s Itwari Sarafa Bazaar after posing as a customer, police said.

The incident took place at Kakkad Jewellers near Tanga Stand Chowk in Itwari between 3.30 pm and 5 pm on August 31. The theft came to light when the shop staff checked the jewellery stock.

According to the complaint filed by Anil Suresh Mahajan (34), an accounts manager at the jewellery store, a woman aged around 60 entered the shop on the pretext of purchasing gold beads. While the staff were attending to her, she allegedly diverted their attention and stole a 7.820-gram gold pendant valued at ₹1,09,400 before leaving the premises.

Following Mahajan’s complaint, Tehsil police registered a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), corresponding to theft provisions, and launched an investigation to identify the woman.
