Nagpur: A 25-year-old lawyer from Yavatmal district, who had moved to Nagpur to pursue his legal career, was found dead in his rented room in the Futala area on Thursday afternoon. Police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Dadaji Niyojit Kinkar, who had completed his LLB in Yavatmal district before moving to Nagpur to practise law. He was living alone in a rented room in the Futala area and had reportedly begun his legal career at the office of a prominent city-based lawyer.
According to police sources, Kinkar had appeared stressed over the past few days. However, his colleagues at the lawyer’s office reportedly had no indication of the seriousness of his situation.
Police said Kinkar had dinner on Wednesday night before going to his room. On Thursday, his mother repeatedly tried to contact him over the phone but received no response. She informed her husband, following which the family made several attempts to reach him.
The family subsequently contacted the woman who owned the rented accommodation and requested her to check on Kinkar. When the landlord looked inside the room, she found him unresponsive and informed his parents.
Ambazari Police reached the spot after being alerted. Senior Police Inspector Vinod Godbole, along with his team, conducted the spot proceedings and sent the body to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police also recovered a handwritten note from the room. In the note, Kinkar reportedly apologised to his parents and expressed concern about his younger sister’s education, asking them to ensure that she was not deprived of her studies.
The note has left the family shocked. Police are now questioning his family members, landlord and colleagues at the lawyer’s office to establish the circumstances that preceded his death.
Ambazari Police said the investigation is ongoing and that the circumstances and possible reasons behind the incident will be established after the inquiry.
