Nagpur: A 19-year-old man has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after a 17-year-old girl allegedly became pregnant following a sexual relationship at a private cabin of a café in Nagpur.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Sameer Khan (19), and the minor girl had known each other since 2024. Their friendship allegedly developed into a relationship.
Although Khan left school while in Class 11, the two continued to meet, police said.
In May 2026, Khan allegedly took the minor to Cafe Baithak near Tiranga Square, within the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station, where the alleged sexual act took place. The girl subsequently became pregnant.
The minor reportedly missed her menstrual cycle and informed her aunt. Following this, her aunt and mother admitted her to New Era Mother and Child Hospital on Wardha Road for an abortion.
Hospital authorities informed the police about the matter. Officials from Dhantoli police station subsequently visited the hospital and recorded the girl’s statement. As the alleged incident had occurred within the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station, the relevant documents and statement were transferred to Kotwali police.
Based on the statement, Kotwali police registered an FIR against Khan under relevant provisions of the POCSO Act and the BNS.
