Midnight Party Turns Violent, Café Set Ablaze in Nandanvan; Case Being Registered

Nagpur: A late-night party at a café in the Nandanvan area took a shocking turn after a dispute between two groups of youngsters escalated into a violent brawl and culminated in an alleged arson incident in the early hours of Tuesday, February 3.


According to police sources, a group of young men and women had gathered at the café for a midnight party. Around 2 am, an argument broke out between two groups. The verbal spat soon turned into a physical fight, creating chaos at the spot. Following the assault, one of the groups allegedly set the café on fire before fleeing the scene.


The complaint has been lodged at Nandanvan Police Station by Rishikesh Rajesh Waghmare (26), a resident of Plot No. 552, near Gautam Vachanalaya, Sirsapeth, Reshimbagh, Nagpur for arson.


Police have named Faizal Sheikh (21), a resident of Mahindra Nagar, Galli No. 5, near Rani Durgavati Chowk, Nagpur, along with 7 to 8 unidentified accomplices, as accused in the case.


Cross complaints have been lodged in this connection.


Authorities said the incident occurred at the stated date, time, and location, and further legal action is underway. A formal offence is in the process of being registered, and an investigation has been initiated to identify and trace the remaining accused.


No casualties have been reported so far, but property damage to the café is believed to be significant. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and questioning witnesses to ascertain the exact sequence of events.
