Nagpur: A 33-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman traffic constable and obstructing her from performing official duties in the Ajni area of Nagpur.

The incident occurred on May 4, 2026, around 7 pm near Shatabdi Chowk, in front of Anand Glasses shop, where Police Head Constable Malti Atmaram Pal (56) was on duty along with her colleagues from the Traffic Branch.

The accused, identified as Injamamul Kaleem Khan, a resident of Sundar Nagar, Kharbi, reportedly became aggressive when action was initiated against him for a traffic violation. He allegedly abused the officer, struck her on the head with a bag, physically assaulted her, and issued threats.

Following a complaint, Ajni Police registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and arrested the accused.

Further investigation is underway.
