Nagpur: A major house break-in was reported in Yashodhara Nagar area, where unidentified thieves decamped with cash and gold jewellery collectively worth Rs 6.78 lakh from a locked residence.

The complainant, Vijaya Madhukar Wankhede (65), had left her house in Anand Nagar for Ujjain along with her family on May 1, 2026, after locking the premises. Upon returning on May 5, she discovered that the main door lock had been broken.

Unknown accused had forcibly entered the house and stolen Rs 1.5 lakh in cash along with gold ornaments kept in a bedroom cupboard.

Based on her complaint, Yashodhara Nagar Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police have launched a search operation to identify and apprehend the accused, and further investigation is in progress.
