Nagpur: To enable all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 20, 2024, the Industries, Energy, Labor, and Mining Department has declared a holiday for all establishments under its purview.
As per Section 135(B) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, a holiday is mandatory for all employees in businesses, trades, industrial ventures, and other establishments located within electoral constituencies so they may participate in the elections. This holiday directive applies to all corporations, companies, industrial undertakings, and establishments within the jurisdiction of the Industries Department, with a guarantee that no deductions will be made from employees’ wages due to this leave.
The department has instructed all corporate bodies, industries, companies, and related establishments to strictly adhere to these guidelines. It also warned that if employees are prevented from voting due to lack of leave or permission, appropriate action will be taken against those responsible.
