Nagpur: A 26-year-old driver was allegedly assaulted by three masked men in Nagpur’s Kharbi area following a dispute linked to a love triangle involving a woman and another man, police said. The attackers allegedly stopped the victim on his way to his vehicle owner’s house and beat him with a wooden stick and fists before fleeing the spot.

The incident took place between 10 pm on August 31 and 8 am on September 1 near the open ground behind Raza Masjid at Garib Nawaz Chowk under Wathoda police station limits.

The complainant, Aamir Hussain Akhtar Hussain (26), a driver residing on rent near Raza Masjid, reportedly had a relationship with a woman. According to the complaint, after the woman allegedly developed a relationship with another man, identified as Monu Khan, disputes began between Hussain, woman and Monu.

On September 1, while Hussain was travelling towards his vehicle owner’s house, three unidentified men, believed to be around 25 years old, allegedly arrived on a Suzuki Burgman moped with their faces covered. They called Hussain by his name and stopped him.

The attackers allegedly assaulted him with a wooden stick, striking him on the head. They also allegedly punched him and hit his waist with a sharp object, causing injuries.

The trio then fled from the spot. Hussain was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (Medical Hospital), Nagpur, for treatment.

Based on his complaint, Wathoda police registered FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are investigating the identities and whereabouts of the three accused.
