Nagpur: An unidentified thief allegedly stole a laptop bag containing two laptops worth around ₹1.60 lakh from a classroom at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) in Nagpur, according to a complaint registered with Bajaj Nagar Police.

The incident took place on August 11 between 10 am and 11 am at the Architecture Department’s 4B section of VNIT College near Abhyankar Nagar Square.

According to the police, the complainant, a 21-year-old student, had kept their laptop bag inside the classroom before leaving to attend a seminar at the college. After the seminar ended, the student returned to the classroom but found the laptop bag missing.

The bag reportedly contained two laptops — a Dell G15 13th Generation laptop valued at approximately ₹1 lakh and an Asus ROG Strix laptop valued at around ₹60,000.

Police suspect that an unidentified person entered the classroom and stole the bag containing the two laptops while the student was attending the seminar.

Based on the complaint, Bajaj Nagar Police registered a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against an unidentified accused. Police are investigating the theft and attempting to identify the suspect.
