Lakdaganj Police Arrest Man With MD Powder Under ‘Operation Thunder’; Drugs Worth ₹4.43 Lakh Seized

Nagpur: In a major action under Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singal’s anti-narcotics initiative “Operation Thunder – Ekatr Yevuya, Nashamukt Samaj Ghadvuya,” the Lakdaganj Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for possession and sale of MD powder.


The action took place on February 25 when a police team was patrolling the Lakdaganj area between 6:35 pm and 9:30 pm. Acting on specific information that a person wearing a black full-sleeve shirt with white dots was selling narcotics near the road leading to the parking area behind Itwari Railway Station, the police reached the spot and detained the suspect.


The man identified himself as Akshay Dilip Chaudhari, a resident of Juni Mangalwari, Matipura, Lakdaganj. A search conducted in accordance with NDPS guidelines led to the recovery of 86.720 grams of MD powder kept in two zip-lock packets inside a red-and-white cloth bag. The police also seized a mobile phone and a weighing scale, collectively valued at ₹4,43,965.


During interrogation, the accused revealed that he procured the MD powder with the help of his associate, Sagar Chaudhari of Lalbag, Gangabag, Pardi, who is now absconding.


Police have registered a case under Sections 8(c), 22(b), and 29 of the NDPS Act at Lakdaganj Police Station and arrested the accused. The search for the absconding accomplice is continuing.


This action was carried out under the guidance of Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (North) Rajendra Dabhade, DCP Rahul Madane and ACP Shivprasad Parwe, with PI Arun Kshirsagar and his team executing the operation.
