Nagpur: Unit 3 of Nagpur Crime Branch detained a juvenile boy for allegedly digging a hole in the wall of a mobile shop in Ganeshpeth and stealing ₹35,000 in cash and mobile phones, with the total value of the stolen goods estimated at ₹39,000. The incident occurred on May 6, 2024, near Santra Market, behind Shaniwar Bazaar, Ganeshpeth.
The complainant, Anil Dharmapath Yadav (45), had closed his mobile shop and gone home when the juvenile broke into the shop by creating a hole in the back wall. The thief then stole cash and phones from the shop.
Following a complaint, Ganeshpeth Police registered a case under sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
During the parallel investigation, Crime Branch Unit 3 officers, acting on reliable information and technical analysis, apprehended the juvenile in the presence of his parents. The juvenile confessed to the theft during questioning.
The police recovered the stolen mobile phone, an Apple mobile purchased using the stolen money, and ₹4,000 in cash, totaling around ₹33,000 in recovered goods.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Sanjay Patil, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), Rahul Maknikar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection), and Abhijit Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime), with officers from Crime Branch Unit 3. Further legal proceedings are underway.
