Mumbai: Following the expansion of Maharashtra’s MahaYuti government, the much-awaited portfolio allocation has been officially announced today, December 21. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis retains the Home Ministry, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is assigned Urban Development and Housing, while Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is given Finance and State Excise.
The winter session of the legislature had concluded without portfolio allocation, even a week after the cabinet expansion. Speculation around delays pointed to disagreements, especially over the coveted Home Ministry, which was reportedly sought by Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). However, the BJP firmly retained the portfolio, assigning it to Chief Minister Fadnavis.
