Joint Operation by Crime Branch: Arrests Made for Drug Possession, Illegal Liquor Sales on Gandhi Jayanti in Nagpur

Nagpur: In a series of operations conducted by the Crime Branch of Nagpur Police, multiple arrests were made on Wednesday October 2, targeting individuals involved in drug possession and illegal liquor sales. The coordinated efforts were carried out under the guidance of senior police officials and resulted in significant seizures of contraband.


Arrest for Drug Possession in Yashodharanagar:


Between 4:50 pm and 7:10 pm, the Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Crime Branch received reliable information regarding illegal activities in the Yashodharanagar area. Acting on this tip, a raid was conducted near Mhada Quarters, Bilal Nagar. 


During the operation, the accused, identified as Karan Vinod Patil alias Kanna (34), was found in possession of 1.385 kg of Ganja intended for sale. Upon further investigation, Patil revealed that he was operating with an accomplice, Adil Sheikh Karim Sheikh, who is currently wanted by the police. The seized contraband, valued at ₹27,700, was handed over to Yashodharanagar Police for further investigation.


Illegal Liquor Sale in Sonegaon:


Around 4:40 pm, Unit 1 officers of the Crime Branch received a tip-off about illegal liquor sales in the Sonegaon area. A raid was carried out near the compound wall of Indraprastha Nagar, Sonegaon, where the accused, Umesh Anandrao Bansod (38), was caught with 81 bottles of foreign liquor (180 ml each) and other items, including a mobile phone and ₹690 in cash.


The total value of the seized items amounted to ₹22,160. The accused, along with the seized items, was handed over to Sonegaon Police for further action.


Illegal Liquor Sale in MIDC:

At around 5:15 pm, the Social Security Branch (SSB) of the Crime Branch, acting on credible information, conducted a raid in Galli No. 9, Ekatma Nagar, MIDC. The accused, identified as Manish Ajit Chakole (25), was found in possession of 54 bottles of country-made liquor (180 ml each) and ₹1,110 in cash.


The total value of the seized goods was ₹4,880. The accused, along with the confiscated items, was handed over to MIDC Police for further investigation.


These successful operations were carried out under the guidance of Sanjay Patil, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), Rahul Maknikar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection), and Abhijit Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime), with the joint efforts of officers from the Anti-Narcotics Squad, Unit 1, and the Social Security Branch of the Crime Branch.
