Nagpur: A 35-year-old woman employed at a petrol pump in Nagpur’s Yashodhara Nagar area has been booked for allegedly stealing ₹30,000 collected from fuel sales before quitting her job, police said.

The incident was reported at a Jio petrol pump opposite SGC Cancer Hospital on Mankapur-Kalamna Ring Road, within the jurisdiction of Yashodhara Nagar police station. Police registered a case on September 22 following a complaint by the petrol pump manager.

The complainant, Akshay Ashokrao Ganorkar (32), a resident of Telipura in Shantinagar, is the manager of the petrol pump.

According to the complaint, the accused, Anjali Janardhan Kushwaha alias Ritu Sahu (35), originally from Ramnagar, Bihta, Patna, Bihar, was employed at the petrol pump to dispense fuel and collect payments from customers.

Police said Anjali allegedly collected ₹30,000 from customers during her duty hours but did not hand over the amount to the management as required.

She allegedly left the workplace after completing her shift and subsequently resigned from the job without depositing the cash, according to the complaint.

Following the complaint, the Yashodhara Nagar police registered a case against the woman under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to theft.

Police are investigating the case and attempting to recover the allegedly stolen money while verifying the circumstances surrounding the incident.
