Nagpur: In a shocking murder case, Jaripatka Police have arrested a 46-year-old man for allegedly killing a 38-year-old hotel owner over a financial dispute and dumping his body in a drain to hide the crime.
The deceased, Rahul Sunil Sahu (38), a resident of Nagpur, had gone missing on April 20, 2026, after leaving home on his Jupiter moped (MH 31 FZ 4143). When he failed to return, his brother Lucky Sahu filed a missing complaint at Sadar Police Station on April 21.
The case took a grim turn on April 22 when Rahul’s body was discovered under a bridge near Nara Ghat in the Jaripatka police jurisdiction. According to police, the victim had been brutally attacked on the head with a weapon. To conceal his identity, the accused wrapped the body in a red blanket, placed it inside a white sack, tied it with a rope, and dumped it at the spot.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against unknown persons. Acting swiftly, Jaripatka Police launched an investigation and arrested the accused, identified as Navin Punjabrao Pundkar, a resident of Kohinoor Society, Nara.
During interrogation, it emerged that the accused had taken a loan from the victim. Despite allegedly repaying double the borrowed amount, the victim continued to demand more money. Frustrated by repeated demands, the accused allegedly killed Rahul at his residence and later disposed of the body.
The crime came to light the following day after the body was recovered.
Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway to establish additional details and circumstances surrounding the murder.
