Nagpur: An unidentified thief allegedly broke into Piccolo Coffee in Wardhaman Nagar and stole ₹45,000 in cash kept in a table drawer, prompting Lakadganj Police to register a case.
The incident reportedly occurred between midnight on September 15 and 4 am on September 16 at the café located in the Swapnil Building area of Hiwari Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Lakadganj Police Station.
According to the complaint filed by Vivek Jeevan Thavkar (45), a private worker and resident of Trimurti Nagar, the café was locked and closed for the night.
The theft came to light on the morning of September 16 when café manager Rupesh Bhure reportedly called Thavkar and informed him that the premises had been burgled. Thavkar subsequently reached the café and found that an unidentified person had allegedly opened the shutter lock and gained entry into the premises.
The thief allegedly searched the café and stole approximately ₹45,000 in cash kept inside a table drawer before fleeing the spot.
Based on Thavkar’s complaint, Lakadganj Police registered an offence against an unidentified person under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as mentioned in the police record.
Police are examining CCTV footage and other evidence from the area to identify the suspect and trace the stolen cash. Further investigation is underway.
