Nagpur: An elderly man was allegedly robbed of ₹1 lakh in cash inside a State Bank of India (SBI) branch located at Medical Square in Nagpur, following which Imamwada Police registered a theft case against an unknown accused.
The incident occurred around 11 am on February 6, 2026, when the complainant, Paras Mahajan Ram (68), a resident of Balaji Nagar, Ajni, visited the SBI branch to withdraw money. After withdrawing ₹1,00,000 in cash through a cheque, he kept the amount in his bag and stood in a queue near the passbook printing machine.
After completing the passbook printing, the complainant noticed that the bottom of his bag had been torn and the cash was missing. It is suspected that an unidentified thief discreetly cut the bag and stole the cash without the victim noticing.
Based on the complaint, Imamwada Police registered a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are scanning CCTV footage from the bank premises and nearby areas to identify the culprit. Further investigation is in progress.
