Nagpur: A 41-year-old gardener died after suffering an electric shock while plucking mangoes from a tree in the Sonengaon area on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Ram Vasudev Sathwane, a resident of Madhavnagar, Isasani.

According to police, the incident occurred around 2:30 pm when Ram Sathwane had gone to work at a residence in Maharshi Karve Nagar, Sonengaon. While climbing a tree to pluck mangoes, he accidentally came in contact with an electric wire running nearby. The high-voltage shock caused him to fall from the tree and lose consciousness.

He was immediately rushed to AIIMS Nagpur in an unconscious state, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Based on a complaint filed by Laxman Sathwane, the Sonengaon police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated further investigation.
