Nagpur: Bajaj Nagar Police have registered a cheating case against a Nagpur-based builder for allegedly duping two flat buyers of ₹1.25 crore by accepting payments for apartments in a residential project but failing to hand over possession.

The accused has been identified as Santoshkumar Nandkumar Gandewar (45), proprietor of G B Realtors.

According to police, the accused launched a residential project named Shreyas Apartment in 2017and advertised flats for sale. One of the complainants, a 70-year-old man, booked a flat on the sixth floor of the project for ₹1 crore and paid ₹94.51 lakh to the builder after executing a registered sale agreement.

Police said another buyer, Kavita Anand Verma, also entered into a flat purchase agreement with the builder and paid ₹31 lakh.

Despite receiving a total of ₹1.25 crore (₹1,25,51,000) from the two buyers, the builder allegedly failed to hand over the promised flats, causing them substantial financial loss.

Following a complaint submitted by the buyers, police conducted a preliminary inquiry. Based on the findings and after obtaining approval from senior officers, Bajaj Nagar Police registered a case against the builder under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Further investigation is underway.
