Nagpur: A massive fire erupted at the Reliance Smart Store near Aath Rasta Square late on Tuesday, October 21, sending shockwaves through the area amid Diwali celebrations.

According to preliminary information, locals were bursting firecrackers in the vicinity when one of the rockets allegedly entered the closed store, sparking the blaze. The store was shut earlier in the evening for the Diwali festival.

Though no injuries or loss of life were reported, goods worth several lakh rupees were gutted in the fire. Thick smoke billowed from the premises as the flames quickly spread through the building.

Upon receiving the alert, multiple fire tenders from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Fire and Emergency Department rushed to the scene. Firefighters battled for hours to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby establishments.

The cause of the fire and the total value of the damage are being assessed. Police and fire officials have launched an investigation into the incident.
