Nagpur: Two separate cases of alleged admission fraud have been registered in Nagpur after the admissions of two engineering students were cancelled following the discovery of allegedly forged Class 12 Transfer Certificates (TCs). The cases involve allegations that admission consultants, agents and college staff colluded to secure B.Tech admissions by uploading fabricated documents during the CET counselling process.
In the first case, MIDC police registered a case after a 52-year-old parent alleged that he was assured of admission for his son to the first year of B.Tech (Artificial Intelligence) at Raisoni College of Engineering on Hingna Road during the 2025-26 academic session.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly took possession of the original documents required for admission and fabricated the student’s Class 12 TC. The allegedly forged document was then included among the admission papers and uploaded on the CET counselling portal using a laptop without the complainant’s knowledge. The family allegedly paid Rs 2.5 lakh for the admission process.
The student’s admission was initially secured. However, during document verification for the second year through the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), the Class 12 TC was allegedly found to be fake, following which the admission was cancelled.
MIDC police have booked Shubham Nimbalkar and others, including alleged consultants/agents and college staff, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act.
Second case
In a similar case registered at Nandanvan police station, a parent alleged that his 18-year-old daughter was promised admission to the first year of B.Tech (Artificial Intelligence) at Raisoni College of Engineering during 2025-26.
The accused allegedly collected the student’s original admission documents and prepared a fake Class 12 TC. The document was allegedly used along with other admission papers and uploaded on the CET counselling portal without the complainant’s knowledge. The family allegedly paid Rs 1.30 lakh for the process, following which the student secured admission.
The admission was subsequently cancelled after DTE officials allegedly detected discrepancies in the Class 12 TC during document verification for the second year.
Nandanvan police have booked Pankaj Madhukar Chimantwar, Ramdas Daharwal, Vrushal Dhote, Sheetal and others, including alleged consultants/agents and college staff, in connection with the case.
Police said the DTE’s inquiry indicated that students from other engineering institutions may also have allegedly been defrauded through a similar modus operandi involving consultants, agents and college staff.
Both cases were registered on the basis of complaints, inquiries and reports submitted to the police. Further investigation is underway.
