Cow, calf stolen from Nagpur cowshed; theft caught on CCTV

Nagpur: A cow and its calf worth a combined ₹61,000 were allegedly stolen from a cowshed in the Gorewada area in the early hours of Wednesday, with CCTV footage showing three unidentified men carrying out the theft.


The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Mankapur police station.


The complainant, Ganesh Yadav (30), a resident of Sabina Society near Fanatic Fitness Gym at Mangalwari Bazar, told police that he went to his cowshed around 6 am on October 7 to milk the cow. However, he found that the cow and its calf, which had been tied inside the shed, were missing.


Yadav subsequently checked the CCTV footage installed at the premises. The footage allegedly showed a white car arriving at around 2.10 am, after which three unidentified men got out, entered the premises and allegedly stole the cow and calf before fleeing.


The stolen cow is valued at approximately ₹46,000, while the calf is worth around ₹15,000.


Based on Yadav’s complaint, Mankapur police registered a case against unidentified accused under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).


Police are examining the CCTV footage to identify the suspects and are making efforts to trace the stolen cow and calf.
