Directs Formation of War Room for Monitoring Progress; Review Scheduled in April


Nagpur: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Saturday January 11, emphasized the need to expedite the modernization and development of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (Mayo) and Government Medical College and Hospital (Medical) in Nagpur, while maintaining top-quality standards. Highlighting the hospitals’ high patient inflow and growing trust, Fadnavis revealed that a budget of approximately ₹1,000 crore has been allocated for the projects.


During a visit to both facilities, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of ongoing projects and instructed that all works be completed within the stipulated timelines.


War Room to Oversee Progress:

To ensure smooth execution and monitoring of work quality, Fadnavis directed the establishment of a war room at the District Collector’s office. The war room will oversee the current status, challenges, and quality standards of the development projects at Mayo and Medical hospitals.


Focus on Solar Energy:

The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of meeting the electricity requirements of both campuses through solar energy. He suggested transitioning the entire campus to a solar energy setup to promote sustainability.


Completion of Existing Projects Before New Initiatives:

Fadnavis instructed that all ongoing projects at Mayo and Medical hospitals must be completed before initiating new ones. He assured full support for the timely completion of current projects and suggested planting more trees in the hospital premises. Additionally, he emphasized the proper maintenance of sanitation facilities in all new buildings.


Review Meeting in April:

Fadnavis announced that a review of the ongoing projects at Mayo and Medical hospitals would be conducted in April. During this meeting, the current progress and challenges will be evaluated.

The meeting was attended by MLAs Pravin Datke, Mohan Mate, and Ashish Deshmukh; Additional Chief Secretary of Medical Education Dinesh Waghmare; Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Chaudhary; Commissioner of Medical Education Rajeev Nivatkar; District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar; Director of Medical Education Dr. Ajay Chandanwale; Deans Dr. Ravi Chavan and Dr. Raj Gajbhiye; Superintendent Engineer of Public Works Department Janardan Bhanuse, and other senior officials.
