Nagpur: A burglary was reported under the Jaripatka Police Station limits after unidentified thieves allegedly broke into a house and stole cash and gold-silver jewellery worth ₹1.22 lakh while the family was away on a picnic.
According to police, complainant Bhushan Mohan Prasad (35), a resident of Plot No. 2, Sant Gajanan Nagar on Nara Road in Jaripatka, had locked his residence and gone to a resort on Savner Road along with his family and friends.
The incident occurred between 7:30 p.m. on June 6 and 2:15 p.m. on June 7. During this period, unknown burglars reportedly forced open the kitchen door by breaking the latch and lock before entering the house.
After gaining entry, the accused allegedly stole ₹37,000 in cash along with various gold and silver ornaments from an iron cupboard. The total value of the stolen property has been estimated at ₹1.22 lakh.
Following the complaint, Jaripatka Police registered a case against unknown persons under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case is being investigated by Police Sub-Inspector Anil Mhaske.
Police have launched a search operation to identify and apprehend the accused. Further investigation is underway.
