NAGPUR: Ahead of Diwali, a 51-year-old man was allegedly attacked by three unidentified youths following an argument over a sutli bomb (string cracker) on Besa-Pipla Road under the jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar Police Station on Wednesday night.

The victim, identified as Kishor Narhari Khanorkar, a resident of Yogesh Nagar near Navdurga Temple in Dighori, was sitting outside a tyre shop with his friends, Manoj Shende and Pardeshi Lilhate, around 11 pm on November 4. The trio were chatting and smoking cigarettes when three unidentified youths, aged between 20 and 25, allegedly threw a sutli bomb towards Khanorkar.

When Khanorkar questioned the youths about throwing the firecracker at him, they allegedly picked a quarrel with him and his friends, asking them not to sit there. During the altercation, one of the accused allegedly picked up a cement block lying on the roadside and hurled it at Khanorkar’s face.

The victim sustained injuries to his nose and lost a tooth in the assault. He was subsequently taken to Yashoda Hospital for medical treatment.

Based on Khanorkar’s complaint, Hudkeshwar Police registered a case against the three unidentified accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
