17-Year-Old Girl Found Two Months Pregnant After Alleged Marriage With Man; POCSO Case Registered in Nagpur

Nagpur: A case has been registered against a 26-year-old man under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)after a 17-year-old girl was allegedly found to be around two months pregnant.


According to the police complaint, the minor girl, aged 17 years and eight months, came in contact with the accused through Facebook. The two allegedly began communicating regularly through Facebook, WhatsApp and phone calls.


Police said that on June 3, 2026, the girl allegedly married the accused and subsequently stayed with him at his residence. The complaint states that they later had a physical relationship.


On July 23, the girl reportedly visited a primary health centre in Matora village in connection with a vaccination card. During a medical examination, doctors allegedly found that she was approximately two months pregnant.


Following the medical examination, a case was initially registered at Tumsar Police Station under Sections 64(1) and 64(2) of the BNS, along with Section 4 of the POCSO Act and other applicable provisions.


As the alleged incident took place within the jurisdiction of MIDC Police Station in Nagpur, the case was subsequently transferred to MIDC police, where an FIR was registered.


Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged marriage, relationship and pregnancy.
