Nagpur: Ajni Police have apprehended a 21-year-old youth for allegedly raping a 16-year-old minor girl after luring her with a false promise of marriage and threatening to leak obscene videos.

According to police, the accused, Ayush Vinod Vairagade, a resident of Ajni, came into contact with the victim in 2023. The two began communicating regularly over mobile phones. Between August 1, 2024, and June 18, 2025, the accused allegedly invited the girl to his house, where he forcibly established physical relations with her.

Police officials stated that the accused exploited the victim’s minor status, repeatedly raped her, and even recorded obscene video clips. When the girl later asked him about marriage, he allegedly threatened to make the video viral and verbally abused her.

Following the girl’s complaint, Ajni Police registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The case has been filed by PSI Pankaj Bawane, and the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is underway.
