Nagpur: Nandanvan Police have arrested a woman accused of repeatedly visiting a jewellery store and allegedly stealing gold ornaments worth ₹2 lakh by diverting the attention of the shop owner and his father.
According to police, complainant Rahul Ravindra Maske (30), a resident of Deshpande Layout, Trimurti Nagar, Nagpur, owns a gold and silver jewellery shop named ‘Diksha Jewellers and Imitation’ located at Bhim Chowk, Hiwari Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Nandanvan Police Station.
The theft came to light after Maske noticed a shortage in stock and reviewed CCTV footage from June 1 to June 11, 2026. During the inspection, he allegedly found that a woman had visited the shop multiple times and, while avoiding the attention of the complainant and his father, stole different gold ornaments weighing around 25 grams.
Based on the complaint, Nandanvan Police registered a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The accused has been identified as Monali Pramod Kawadkar (37), a resident of Brahmanagar, Dighori, Nagpur. Police traced and arrested the woman and further investigation is underway.
