Nagpur: A 25-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and injured in Nagpur’s Lakadganj area after a dispute related to his marriage with a woman from another community. Lakadganj Police have registered a case against four accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to the police, the complainant, Tushar Kailas Birha (25), a resident of Colonel Bagh, Ganeshpeth, had entered into a love marriage with Mahek on June 5, 2026. The woman has been living with him since the marriage and is currently three months pregnant.

Police said the woman’s relatives were allegedly opposed to the marriage. On July 8, 2026, around 6.30 pm, the accused allegedly called Tushar to Gangabai Ghat Chowk under the jurisdiction of Lakadganj Police Station.

The accused allegedly pressured him to divorce his wife and send her back with them. When he refused, they allegedly abused him, threatened to assault him, and damaged his Vivo mobile phone.

During the confrontation, one of the accused allegedly picked up a stone from the roadside and struck Tushar on the head, causing injuries. The remaining accused allegedly assaulted him with fists and kicks.

The injured man was admitted to Mayo Hospital, where he received medical treatment.

Based on his complaint, Lakadganj Police have registered a case against Jahid Ali, Numer Ali, Mohammad Mateen Mohammad Hafeez, and Sahid Ali Haji Rajab Ali under Sections 118(1), 352, 351(2), and 324(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway.
