Nagpur: A family returning from a wedding narrowly escaped tragedy after their car met with a mishap due to a tyre burst on the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway near the National Cancer Hospital on Monday, January 20.
Although the passengers sustained severe injuries, no casualties were reported. Locals promptly alerted the authorities, and the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
This accident follows another fatal incident on the same stretch of the expressway on Sunday, January 19. In the earlier mishap, Abhilash Chandrakant Dhone, a software engineer from Ram Nagar, Wardha district, lost his life when his car rammed into a truck attempting a U-turn near the National Cancer Hospital.
Dhone, who was traveling to Wardha with his wife in a Tata Nexon, reportedly lost control of the vehicle. He was rushed to AIIMS, Nagpur, where doctors declared him dead.
Both incidents highlight the increasing number of accidents on the Samruddhi Expressway, raising concerns about safety measures on this busy route. Police are investigating both cases and urging motorists to exercise caution while driving.
