Nagpur: The Crime Branch’s Unit 4 has cracked a burglary reported under Imamwada police station limits with the help of footage from more than 500 CCTV cameras and technical investigation. A juvenile in conflict with law was detained and stolen jewellery and a mobile phone worth approximately ₹16.90 lakh were recovered from his possession.

According to police, the burglary took place at the residence of Milind Namdevrao Kamble (65) at Plot No. 129, Untkhana, Dahipura Layout, between 11 am on September 12 and 7.35 am on September 13. The accused allegedly broke into the house and stole around 25 tolas of gold ornaments, 40 grams of silver ornaments and ₹75,000 in cash.

The case was registered at Imamwada police station under Sections 305, 331(3) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

During the parallel investigation, Crime Branch personnel examined footage from more than 500 CCTV cameras and conducted a technical analysis. The investigation led police to identify multiple juveniles allegedly connected with the offence.

One juvenile, identified as Prayatnashil alias Chiku Devanand Khobragade (17), a resident of Lashkaribagh, was taken into custody. Police are also looking for another juvenile, identified as Mitra Kanhaiya alias Sonu Shahu, a resident of the Vijay Nagar area near Sheetla Mata Temple.

Police recovered 136.800 grams of yellow metal ornaments valued at approximately ₹16.41 lakh, along with 38.600 grams of silver ornaments valued at around ₹38,600. The recovered items included rings, earrings, mangalsutras, chains and gold ornaments.

An Oppo mobile phone valued at around ₹10,000 was also seized from the juvenile. The total value of the recovered property has been estimated at ₹16.90 lakh.

After being detained, the juvenile underwent a medical examination and was handed over to Imamwada police for further legal action. The investigation into the burglary and the role of the other juveniles is underway.
