Nagpur: At least three workers lost their lives and several others were injured in a major accident reported on Friday at the Avaada company premises in Butibori Industrial Area. The incident occurred during ongoing operations at the facility and triggered an immediate emergency response from local authorities and medical teams.

The injured were rushed to Maya Hospital in Butibori, where they are currently receiving treatment. Hospital sources confirmed that multiple workers are in varying degrees of injury, with some in serious condition.

The exact cause of the accident has not yet been officially determined. Local police and company officials have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the tragedy.

This incident adds to a worrying pattern of industrial accidents and explosions in the Nagpur region this year. In September 2025, a powerful explosion at the Solar Group’s explosives manufacturing facility near Chakdoh-Bazargaon, about 40 km from Nagpur, claimed at least one life and injured more than 25 workers, with shockwaves damaging buildings kilometres away. The blast, which occurred in the RDX crystallisation unit, highlighted ongoing safety concerns at hazardous industrial sites in the district.
