Nagpur: In a decisive action against human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, a team from the Social Security Branch (SSB) and AHTU Crime Unit cracked down on an alleged sex racket operating in Wathoda jurisdiction under Operation Shakti.
The raid was conducted on November 17 between 3:30 pm and 10 pm at a premises located in Prime Minister Awas Yojana, Tarodi village, near Symbiosis College, under Wathoda Police Station limits. Officials found that the accused were reportedly luring a woman with quick financial gains and forcing her into the flesh trade.
Police arrested two suspects identified as Shankar Ganeshrao Wankhede (38) and Swati alias Mayuri Wankhede (34), both residents of Jyoti Nagar, Nagpur, staying on rent in the targeted building. One victim was rescued from the location during the operation.
The team seized a total of ₹21,540 worth of materials, including two mobile phones valued at ₹20,000, ₹1,500 in alleged transaction money, and four sealed condoms recovered from the spot.
After medical examination, the accused and the rescued woman were handed over to Wathoda Police Station for further investigation. Police officials stated that the crackdown is part of the citywide campaign to dismantle networks involved in trafficking and sexual exploitation.
