Nagpur: In a landmark step towards integrating military training with academic credentials, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) and the NCC Officers Training Academy (OTA), Kamptee, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 8, 2025. The MoU formalises the introduction of Diploma Courses for Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) undergoing Pre-Commission Training at OTA Kamptee.
This unique collaboration was spearheaded by Major General Upkar Chander, Commandant of OTA Kamptee, and Dr. Madhavi Khode Chaware (IAS), Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of RTM Nagpur University. The initiative aims to empower over 1,200 teachers and professors annually—drawn from across India—who attend the Pre-Commissioning courses at NCC OTA Kamptee.
Under this academic partnership, ANOs will now be awarded university-recognised diploma certifications, acknowledging the academic rigour and social impact of their training. This move not only bridges military instruction with higher education but also formally honours the crucial role played by ANOs in fostering youth leadership, discipline, and nation-building.
Officials believe that this initiative will encourage more qualified educators to join the NCC as Associate Officers, thereby strengthening the organisation’s national mentor network. The diploma programme is also expected to enhance the professional standing of ANOs and align their contributions with broader academic and developmental goals.
The MoU marks a transformational step in academia-defence collaboration, paving the way for future-ready citizens and reaffirming NCC’s growing role in holistic national development.
