Akola: A heartwarming gesture by Akola Superintendent of Police (SP) Archit Chandak turned a retiring constable’s unfulfilled dream into reality, winning widespread praise and capturing hearts on social media.

On the day of his retirement, Constable Arun Ghormode was beaming with joy during a felicitation ceremony held on Saturday, May 31. As his daughter emotionally shared that Ghormode had long dreamt of riding a Royal Enfield Bullet but couldn’t afford one due to family responsibilities, SP Chandak stepped in with a surprise that stunned everyone present.

Moved by the daughter’s words, SP Chandak promptly instructed his team to arrange a Bullet motorcycle for the retiring officer. A helmet was handed over, and with pride and excitement, Ghormode mounted the bike for his much-awaited ride. In a symbolic and respectful gesture, SP Chandak took the pillion seat, allowing Ghormode to lead the ride in full uniform.

The short but memorable ride was captured in videos and photos, which quickly went viral across social media platforms. Netizens lauded SP Chandak for his humane leadership and empathetic nature, with many calling it a moment that reflects the real spirit of public service.

Chandak, an IIT-Delhi alumnus and 2018 batch IPS officer, is already known for his progressive and people-friendly policing style. After taking charge in Akola—following his tenure as DCP (Traffic) in Nagpur—he recently drew attention for taking swift disciplinary action against a police sub-inspector accused of misconduct, reinforcing his firm stance on accountability.
