Nagpur: A tragic accident involving a crane claimed the life of a 54-year-old man near Bhatia Lawn, Kamptee-Nagpur Road, on Friday, January 3, 2025, around 10:30 PM. The mishap occurred when a crane, driven recklessly, collided with a stationary Activa moped, leaving one dead and another injured.
According to the complaint filed by Indrakumar Shyamlal Maganani (48), he and his friend Sudhir Keshavrao Manavtkar (54) were returning from a wedding at Bhatia Lawn on their Activa (MH-49 Z-5907). They had stopped on the road due to heavy traffic when a crane (MH-32 AS-9897), driven at high speed and negligently, rammed into their vehicle from behind.
Both men were thrown off the moped and sustained critical injuries. They were rushed to the Sub-District Hospital in Kamptee, where Sudhir Manavtkar was declared dead on arrival, while Maganani received treatment for his injuries.
Based on Maganani’s complaint, New Kamptee Police Station has registered a case under BNS Sections 106(1), 281, 125(A), along with Motor Vehicle Act Sections 187 and 184.
