Nagpur: In yet another strong move under Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal’s initiative — “Operation Thunder: Ekatr Yeuyaa, Nashamukt Samaj Ghadvuuyaa” — Nandanvan Police cracked down on drug abuse in public areas. On October 14, between 8:27 pm and 9:30 pm, a police team raided a premises behind Datta Mandir, Mire Layout, based on reliable information and found seven men consuming ganja.
The arrested accused were identified as:
- Ankit Shivdas Chaudhary (23), Nehru Nagar,
- Swapnil Sudhakar Kongre (25), Narsala, Dighori,
- Pranay Suresh Adamore (23), Shivaji Nagar,
- Ankit Purushottam Nagore (29), Nehru Nagar,
- Ankit Suresh Jais (34), Nehru Nagar,
- Prakash Ambadas Gaikwad (21), Nehru Nagar, and
- Ashok Vinayak Pudkelwar (66), Mire Layout, Nandanvan.
Police seized from the spot – ganja-like floral substance in plastic packets, chillums, smoking cloths, matchboxes, mobile phones, a two-wheeler and a three-wheeler – altogether worth ₹3.58 lakh.
A case has been registered under Sections 27 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Nandanvan Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
The action was supervised by CP Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (South Region) Shivajirao Rathod, DCP Rashmita Rao, and ACP Pradeep Sirsat. The operation was executed by PI Vinayak Koli, PSI Santosh Jadhav, API Pratiksha Patil, and other police personnel including Mohan Borje, Dinesh, Damodhar, Kartik, Lokchand, Manoj, Rahul, Pravin, and Pratibha.
