Nagpur: Stray Dogs Attack Boy in Hudkeshwar, Child Suffers Multiple Bite Injuries

Nagpur: In yet another alarming case of stray dog menace, a young boy was brutally attacked and injured by a pack of stray dogs in Amrapali Nagar, Hudkeshwar area. The child, identified as Shivam Bahekar, sustained serious injuries after being bitten at 12 to 15 different places on his body.


The incident left the boy bleeding profusely, following which his family rushed him to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur, where he has been admitted for treatment.


The attack has once again brought the spotlight on the rising stray dog problem in Nagpur. Recently, the issue of stray dog bites has triggered nationwide debates, with the Supreme Court directing authorities to strike a balance between public safety and animal rights. In Nagpur, police and civic authorities have already held joint meetings with NGOs and animal welfare groups to find long-term solutions, including sterilisation and vaccination drives.


Residents of Hudkeshwar expressed anger and fear after the latest incident, urging the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to intensify its efforts to control the growing stray dog population and ensure safety in residential areas.
