NAGPUR: A 66-year-old retired veterinary doctor from Trimurti Nagar has allegedly been cheated of his 43-inch LG television by an unidentified person who took the device for repairs but failed to return it despite repeated calls.

According to the complaint filed by Dr Lekhram Ramchandra Pakhmode, a resident of Gokul Govind Apartment in Trimurti Nagar, his television had developed a technical fault. He contacted a representative of Shri Ganesh Electronics, Nagpur, through the online directory platform Justdial to arrange for repairs.

Subsequently, an unidentified man visited his residence and inspected the television. The man allegedly told Pakhmode that the device had a major fault and would have to be taken away for repairs.

Trusting the person, the retired doctor handed over his 43-inch LG LCD television to him. However, after taking the television, the man allegedly failed to return it.

Despite repeated phone calls, the suspect reportedly continued to evade the complainant and did not return the device, prompting Pakhmode to approach the police.

Based on his complaint, Pratap Nagar police registered a case under Section 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to criminal breach of trust.

Police are investigating the case and attempting to identify the suspect.
