Nagpur: A man killed his wife over suspicion of infidelity and tried to cover it up as an accident. The incident occurred in Gargoti Basti, Uday Nagar, under Hudkeshwar Police jurisdiction. 

The accused, Suraj Patil (35), and the deceased, Rashmi Patil (27), were married with two daughters aged five and three.

According to police sources, Suraj, a painter, frequently accused Rashmi of infidelity, leading to repeated conflicts. In October 2024, Rashmi briefly left home but returned after police intervention. On the day of the crime, a heated argument escalated, and Suraj fatally struck Rashmi with a heavy object.

He rushed her to the hospital, claiming she had fallen. However, neighbors and medical staff grew suspicious, and police found signs of a struggle at their home. Suraj fled with his daughters but was later apprehended.

Initially maintaining the accident narrative, he eventually confessed during questioning.
