Nagpur: In a swift and strategic operation, the Kapil Nagar Police arrested a 30-year-old man in possession of illegal firearms near Uppalwadi late Monday, June 30 night.
The accused, identified as Rahul Madhukar Sakharakar, a resident of Tarekshwar Nagar, Nagpur, was found carrying a locally-made pistol and a country-made iron revolver — together valued at ₹25,000.
Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap near Sahare Petrol Pump around 7:50 PM. Upon spotting the suspect matching the description, officers attempted to apprehend him. The accused tried to flee but was successfully chased down and detained. During a search conducted in the presence of witnesses, the firearms were recovered from his possession.
Police officials confirmed that the accused was likely planning a serious cognizable offence. He has been charged under Sections 3/25 of the Indian Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, and has been formally arrested. The operation was carried out under the supervision of DCP Zone 5 Niketan Kadam, ACP Vishal Kshirsagar, and PI Satish Ade.
